Maritime Classics building a 1947 135 class Ventnor

From Mike Green:
Here at Maritime Classics were almost ready to finalize the decks on the 1947 135 class Ventnor Hydro.
We are working on the steering and drive line parts then we’ll install the Ford Flathead.

  1. I am really interested to see the steering and linkage on the Maritime Classics building a 1947 135 class Ventnor. I own the boat Who Cares A-104 shown under the Boats link on this website and would love to learn how they are acquiring the parts, rudder and accessories to assemble the steering, rudder and linkage. My boat has been in storage under a partial renovation since the early 1990’s and I lack all of the steering components.
Would love to see more pictures and story.

  2. We’re lucky. The hydro in this article was almost complete, except for the engine. But I had a Ford V8–60 block and parts.
I also had another Ventnor 135 which was complete when we acquired it. We restored this hydro earlier. This other hydro was pre ww2. Previous owners were Robert Stack, the actor; Eddie Myers, owner of the famous LA speed shop called by some “Hollywood Hotrod “, and Edison Hedges, a well known East Coast racer of hydro, who won the national championship for 135s in this boat in 1946 at Red Bank, NJ. The second 135 Ventnor also has a Ford V8 60 which was built by Eddie Myers.
