I am researching Gar Wood, Jr. and his participation in 1940 Gold Cup Race. I would love to see if an image of the boat he drove, Tinker Toy, or the Notre Dame is available to me.
Wood also raced a 91 cubic inch boat in September 1945 at the Winter Haven races that I do not have a boat number, boat name or complete image of and wonder if it resembled the 1940 Notre Dame in appearance or was completely new. I say this because it is recorded that he purchased Hotsy Totsy in late 1940 AND was building a new boat before heading off to serve in World War II. 1945 reports said he just finished building the unnamed 91 cubic inch boat before the race, but did not finish in the top of the standings.
