Class Rules - 266 cubic inch (F) class hydroplanes
Rule 1 says a match is at least two heats of 5 miles each

Rule 2 says maximum piston displacement 266 cubic inches. tolerance of 30/1000 per cylinder allowed.

Rule 3 says minimum overall length excluding projections is 18 ft. Requires at least one watertight bulkhead. Grandfathers in boats that were registered in the class in 1961, provided they were at least 16 ft long.

Rule 4 says the rudder must extend at least 3 & 1/2 inches below the tip of the prop

Rule 5 says all steel rudder blades must be heat treated and must be at least 1/2 inch thick "on trailing edge or backbone"

Rule 6 says methanol only for racing and for time trials

Rule 7 says motor can be any automobile motor listed in National Automotive Dealers Red Book. Motors must be 4 cycle non-supercharged. No double overhead cam motors allowed. Motors must have an efficient mechanical starter.

Rule 8 says the racing number goes on the bow and has the letter F

Inboard Safety Rule 2 says the minimum weight for a 266 hydro is 1300 pounds, not including the driver.
