2002 Dayton, Ohio Testing
Thirty-six boats were present for 2002 Dayton testing this year, including five vintage hydros. Weather was perfect on Saturday and a complete washout Sunday. This was the year for Lauterbach's with three; two 225's and one GP boat, all were in their original racing trim.

Tom Bertolini's Country Boy N-8; after a major reconstruction that shaved a foot from her length and narrowed the afterplane to original, was perfect. A tribute to the driver that made her famous was lettered on the transom. Both craft showed their speed when on the water!!

After just one run, a problem with the left sponson put the Opechee on the trailer for the weekend. Hopefully Hal LeDuc will have her repaired in time for the rest of the season.

Alan Radue's Agitator made her first laps around a race course in over 15 years. Two of her former owners were present, Ron Snyder and Ted Williams. Engine problems limited her performance. Alan has gone to almost heroic lengths to preserve the originality of the Agitator. A fine restoration.

Carl Wilson's Tiger showed off her bright finished decks that brought back memories of a time when most boats had some bright topside wood. She made several runs until some bottom wood delaminated.

Gordon Jayne's Miss Dinomytes; after replacing a battery, made some fast laps around the course. The blown big block Chevy sounded marvelous.
