Howard Langdon owned a Lauterbach. As far as I can recall he never
raced it, though it had, until recently (within the last
two years), a 426 cu. in.. 1000 HP blown Hemi in it. He told me he
removed the hemi to build a steam engine to go in it.
This beautiful machine has been stored in the shed you see since the
1960's or early 70's.
He cared for the engine by turning it over each month, all those years.
It is in a very small town in Quebec, near the border of Vermont.
Howard grew up in Connecticut where his father had a marina on the
Connecticut river. His personal 'runabout' was a 1964 Sanger flat
bottom drag boat with a 398 cu. in. blown Hemi pushing 800 HP.
