Mr. Bud was built by Ed Karelsen in 1976 for Don Mashburne. Driven by Daryl Weber she was National Champion in 1976. In 1979 Jim Kropfeld drove her to another National Championship. Kropfeld also set worlds records in 1978 (91.75 mph lap on a 1 2/3 mile course) and 1979 (95.59 mph lap on a 2 ½ mile course).
The boat was then sold to Dick Neeson and was driven by Mike Hanson. The boat was renamed Madame Blue. In 1983 Mike set a worlds record on a 1 ¼ course of 88.45 mph. In 1985 Mike raised the worlds record on a 2 ½ mile course to 99.94 mph.

Mashburn through Scheuffele ran the boat as a 2.5 Mod, while Bourke raced the boat with a V-6 in the 4 Litre Mod class then as a National Mod. Erickson owned the boat for several years and never raced it.
