The Johnson RS (Racing Special) was a factory only race motor. The identical Evinrude version was called the CCC. The initial RS/CCC utilized the new 200HP Crossflow block with a displacement of 149.4 cu.in., (Bore 3.500, Stroke 2.588) Later RS/CCC's used the 235HP block and displaced 160 cu.in. The RS/CCC utilized a unique intake with six 2bbl carbs and six reed cages. The exhaust used filler blocks feeding into two megaphones within a water cooled bubble back exhaust housing. The mid-section integrated a hydraulic cylinder to lift the motor vertically 1" and a trim cylinder provided 12 degree of trim. These motors operate between 6900 and 7200 RPM. This block was modified by Wilbur Weeks, a notable drag racer in his time. The block is generiously ported and utilized dual plug heads and ignition. 6-2bbl carbs, 12 spark plugs, 6-dual coils = Lots of Fun Speeds were in the 135 mph area. |

Original purchased / tested by OMC Sold to Philip O'Berry who raced the boat into 1981. Campaigned under O'Berry Marine along with other class boats. All boats were painted similar by John Hervat. Known drivers were Rudy Foote #86 & Randy Gore #60 Notables - blow-overs at Euphala & St. Pete |
