CHALLENGES:
Jerry Wortman of Big Sky, Montana is looking
for info on his 1950s Rich Hallett built 225 hydro SNAPPER, N-6. The 225
ran a Keith Black Ford Flathead and was formerly owned and raced by John
Witt in the Midwest. SNAPPER is listed in the Gulf 100 mph for 1958. Jerry
drives the Hallett in Region 10 vintage events and would love to hear of
any history you can provide to this column about his hydro.

ON A SAD NOTE:
Ron Hedges passed away January 23, 2008. Ron
owned and drove 225s and also drove in 2.5 classes. Ron, a restorer of
vintage hydroplanes, had recently purchased his old Kelson built hydro
for restoration and was looking forward to during the vintage tour in Region
10
Jimmy Schwab passed on January 18, 2008. Jimmy
was crew chief on the /7 Litre/Grand Prix hydros SUDDEN SEVEN and MISS
DINOMYTES, as well as crewing for the GANGWAY and FANTASY.
Godspeed, Ron and Jimmy.
VINTAGE HOT BOAT OF THE MONTH
Ron Morrison of Vancouver, Washington is near
completion of his 1961 Ron Jones Sr. designed and built 136/91 Class hull
restoration.
The hull is a sister to Harry Schneider’s 136
TIGER TOO, 86-S. Ron’s hydro will be running the original Ford
V8-60 out of the 86-S, which was built by noted engine builder Hillary
Govia. Dave Jerome Classic Boat Restoration of Portland,
Oregon did the hull work.
