BOATS UNDER RESTORATION:
John Morsheimer of Honeoye, NY is restoring a 1980 cabover 280 hydro  designed and built by the “west coast Sooy”, Don (brother of famed builder, Dick Sooy. The boat was raced as, BAD DREAM$ by owner/driver Floyd Thompson of Jamestown, NY in the ‘80’s. Anyone with history, names of previous owners or photos of the boat, please contact John at:  info@morsheimerracing.com

NOTES:
Those attending the APBA Annual meeting in Atlanta were greeted with a wonderful Bill DeGlopper photo collage of vintage boats. Members listened closely to suggestions and ideas concerning the Vintage and Historic Division. Experienced racing veterans: Buddy Byers, Steve David, Larry Lauterbach and Mike Weber took part in the roundtable discussion group. Bill John III has photos with captions of the Vintage/Historic meetings on his website: www.vintageraceboatshop.com/APBA-AnnualMeeting-2005.htm

ON A SAD NOTE:
Ken Furniss Sr. passed-away in his sleep at his Ogden, Utah home on Jan. 20, 2005. Ken raced during the 1960’s and 70’s and was known for his 150 hydro, NEW AVENGER. Driven by Terry Turner, the Furniss’ A-30 won class APBA high points in 1971-76-77.

Hospitalized in Boston, MA., following an illness, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire resident, Art Apy passed away Feb.2, 2005. The fun-loving Apy raced in the 280 hydro class driving, ENCORE II during the 1980-90 seasons.

God Speed to our fellow racers from the members of the Vintage/Historic Division.

VINTAGE HOT BOAT OF THE MONTH:
Veteran driver, Bill Allen flies John Van Dyke’s 7 Litre, TOOL CRIB SPECIAL, H-62 to a 1971 Western Divisional win on Oregon’s Dexter Dam.
The 1969 built Ron Jones pickle fork hull, powered by a supercharged Chevy, went through a number of different owners and boat names after being sold, such as: Salt Walther’s COUNTRY BOY (winner of Canada’s ’73 Molson Invitational); Paul Sparrow’s HOLIDAY RENT-A-CAR SPL., GP-777 and finally, in 1986 as Norm Phillip’s EL BANDITO, GP-31. In 2002, Bill Morsheimer and his sons of Honeoye, NY rescued the weathered old war- horse and labored to restore her to the beautiful yellow and orange TOOL CRIB SPL. once again.
