Henry Lauterbach
Rides Again

Henry Lauterbach readies himself to represent the Vintage class at
The Hampton Cup Regatta World Championships that were held August 10-12, 2001 .

The smile on Henry's face says it all.

A 1-2/3 mile race course awaits Henry in Tom D'Eath's Wa Wa too.
Henry originally built this hydroplane in 1953.
He drove this 266 class hydroplane in the 1955 Orangebowl Regatta on
December 28, 1955 in Miami, Florida. He won this race by beating the more powerful Italian challengers.

After 1 false start and alot of radio negotations by Tom D'Eath who was
supervising. Then the a monsoon rainstorm soaking Terry Hoffman and I holding the boat.

Henry Lauterbach is off driving the Wa Wa on the Hampton race course again.

Tom said it's the first time Henry's been back on a race course since 1959.

Henry even got the roostertail up on the second lap.
He said "it was a little rough in turn 2 for a 81 year old hydro driver".
