Winners of the
PRINCE EDWARD GOLD CUP

The International Boat Racing Scene was first introduced to Picton waters in 1937, when the now prestigious Prince Edward Gold Cup was first offered for competition. Since then any time there has been a race here for the Gold Cup, it has attracted the world's best racing boats and drivers.

To illustrate the advancement in power boat racing, the average over the years speed for a 5 mile course in 1937 was 55 miles per hour. In 1979, the record for the 5 mile course will probably be around 100 miles per hour mark.
