Hydro always campaigned under Happy Buddha name as originally dubbed by first owner/driver Harry Alaire of New Jersy. Harry ran the boat very successfully primarily on the east coast during the period of 1968-1975 winning several important races. After retirement and storage for several years the hydro was picked up by Bob Moore of New Jersey with the intention of running it but unfortunately it was not to be due to other committments. Later purchased from Bob by Jerry Field of NY who performed a four-year complete restoration aided by Weeks Boat Yard of Long Island. Acquired by JERT Racing of St. Joseph, Michigan in the fall of 2003, it had it's first post-restoration run at the Wolfesboro, New Hampshire Vintage Boat Regatta in September of that year.
